Accessibility / WCAG 2.2 AA

Hands-on website accessibility audit services

Can someone complete your contact form without a mouse? Will they hear the error message if they're using a screen reader? I review the pages and journeys we agree on to find where people run into barriers.

The audit combines automated checks with hands-on testing and a review of relevant source code. You'll get an explanation of what I found and recommendations your team can use.

What I check

I use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as a reference. A scan can flag some issues, but trying the journey helps explain whether a person can actually use it.

For example, a dialog might have an accessible name and still leave keyboard focus on the page behind it. I'll document the behavior and look at the code responsible for it.

  • Keyboard navigation, tab order, traps, and custom controls.
  • Visible focus and where it moves when menus, dialogs, or routes change.
  • Headings, landmarks, and names for links and controls.
  • Form labels, instructions, error messages, and recovery.
  • Text and control contrast, including information conveyed by color alone.
  • Screen reader behavior and zoom/reflow at 400%.
  • WCAG 2.2 considerations such as target size, dragging alternatives, and accessible authentication.

Your report

Understand the barrier and the fix.

Each finding explains who it affects, where it occurs, and how to reproduce it. Screenshots and relevant code recommendations give your developers enough context to investigate the change.

You'll also get a short summary and a prioritized task list. We'll walk through the findings together so you can ask questions and decide what to address first. Implementation and re-testing are available as follow-on work.

The report covers the pages and journeys we agree on. It isn't a certification of the whole site or a guarantee of legal compliance.

Questions about the audit

What affects website accessibility audit cost?

Pricing starts at $1,500 USD. The number of different page layouts, the complexity of your controls, and the journeys you want tested affect the scope. Send me your URL and priorities, and we'll agree on a fixed price before I start.

How do you decide how to audit a website for accessibility?

We start with the tasks people need to complete, such as finding information or submitting a form. I check representative pages with automated tools, then test keyboard use, screen reader behavior, and zoom. Reviewing the relevant code helps connect a barrier to a specific recommendation.

Can an automated scan cover everything?

No. A scanner can detect some missing labels and contrast problems, but it can't reliably tell whether an instruction makes sense or a journey is usable. The hands-on review covers behavior that needs a person to try it. Read more about accessibility beyond automated scans.

Which journeys should we start with?

Send me your site and the tasks your visitors need to complete. I'll reply with a scoped recommendation and a fixed-price proposal.
